Increased research and innovation in the cross-border area in strategic and complementary sectors.

In recent years, the bioeconomy sector in the Grand Est and Hauts-de-France regions, Wallonia and Flanders have been experiencing a strong momentum:

  • creation of competitiveness clusters (IAR, GreenWin and Catalisti),
  • the development of plant-based industries for food and non-food applications,
  • integration of the bioeconomy into the Smart Specialization strategies.

In this context, the ValBran project is of high relevancy: it strengthens this dynamics by setting up cross-border cooperation between the various partners.

Each partner will deliver its own skills and will simultaneously benefit from the complementary knowledges and skills of the other partners, which will allow the project to have a strong potential for innovation. Therefore, the research and innovation in the field of plant valorisation in cross-border areas will benefit immensely from the wide expertise of the consortium.
